“Simple Faith” teaching series
This 3-part series was taught by Tim Harder at a home group in Wichita over 3 weeks in October/November 2012. The subject of the teaching is John 13-17, commonly known as the Upper Room Discourse, where Jesus has His final conversation with His disciples at the Last Supper, leading up to the Cross.
In that passage, Jesus lays out what it is that He’s about to initiate at the Cross and how the New Covenant is going to forever change man’s relationship to God. It is a very practical message, meant to impact the way we daily seek to live out righteousness. Applying the Old Covenant model of “learn and obey” simply does not work. The New Covenant lifestyle is beautiful in simple and relational nature. It’s all about faith, and it’s all about the Person of God.
This 3-part version is condensed from a 10-week series with much more on daily application that Tim taught at NBIHOP in Oklahoma City (available here), so the sessions run a bit long as they double up on the revelation and then the application of the major themes. Week 1 is an overview of the New Covenant and the Upper Room Discourse, and then Weeks 2 and 3 cover the two major themes in the Upper Room Discourse: the place of faith and letting God play the ongoing part He wants to play, and the finished work of the Cross and living in what God has already done.
